Wild Goose Qigong
Learn the authentic skill with Sifu Matthew Laurie
Tse Qigong Centre Authorised Instructor with over 20 years experience
A Skill for Life
Wild Goose Qigong is a profound health exercise involving deep relaxation, flowing movement and mindfulness. In relaxed and friendly classes in Sheffield and the Peak District, you will have the opportunity to work through a structured syllabus of exercises that help to relax the body, settle the mind, and develop good health in the process.
Each class involves practicing together as a group and time for one-to-one teaching so that you can learn at your own pace. You will have the opportunity to learn about the nature of Qi, how Qi flows through acupuncture points and channels to support good health, and the fascinating philosophy that underpins the Qigong practice. Practicing regularly will help to heal old injuries and can improve joint pain, back pain, insomnia, low energy, chronic fatigue and more.
Lineage
An old Chinese proverb says that if you are going to drink some water, then you should know the source of the water. In the same way, it is important to know where a teacher learnt their skill from so that we know whether it is a good skill. It is this knowledge that differentiates one teacher or school from another, and this is the first question that anyone should ask when thinking of learning a new skill.
The Wild Goose Qigong skill is said to have a history of over 1000 years. The 26th generation lineage holder was Yang Dak Shan who, lacking a suitable older student to pass the skill to, decided to teach his grand daughter, Yang Meijin, who he made promise that she would not teach the skill until she was 70 years of age. Yang Meijin kept her promise, deciding to open the skill to the public in the 1980s at the age of 78. Yang Meijin taught the Wild Goose system to her close student, Michael Tse, who she then asked to take the skill to the West. Michael Tse left China and started teaching in England, forming the Tse Qigong Centre in 1990.
